Australian Adam Scott stunned the Texas crowd with a 48-foot putt to win the Byron Nelson Championship in a play-off.
The world number 10 led by three shots going into the final round but finished tied for the lead with American Ryan Moore on -7 after 72 holes.
And he needed to pull out all the stops with a huge putt to beat the 2004 US Amateur champion at the third extra hole and secure his sixth USPGA Tour title.
The young Aussie saw his overnight lead evaporate with a dropped shot at the first, one of three dropped shots in the first five holes, while Moore carded birdies at 16 and 17 to lead in the clubhouse.
Scott required a birdie at the 18th to force the play-off, which he managed, and the 27-year-old admitted that he was fortunate to take the title after a less-than-inspiring final 18 holes.
"I got away with one today," he said. "I dug it out of nowhere and obviously found my range. I hit it too close the other holes."
Moore admitted he always felt that a player of Scott's ability could pull something special out of the bag when required.
"You expect a guy like that to make a putt in that situation," he said. "It didn't surprise me at all."
