Formula One legend Sir Jackie Stewart feels it is "impossible" for Max Mosley to continue in his job as head of world motorsport.
Mosley is under pressure to resign from his post after newspaper reports claimed that he was involved in a 'Nazi-style orgy.' The FIA supremo denies there were any Nazi connotations and has called an extraordinary meeting of FIA members for June 3, where his future will be decided by a vote of confidence.
Further pressure has been heaped on the 68-year-old after Formula One chief Bernie Ecclestone made it known that he wants his long-time associate to quit.
And Stewart, himself a three-time F1 champion, feels it is time for Mosley to end the saga by resigning to prevent big-name sponsors withdrawing their funds from the sport.
"He's gone beyond anything they (companies) would tolerate," he told Radio Five Live. "Therefore it's very difficult to see how he could stay under these circumstances.
"I think it's going to be very difficult commercially for the companies involved in Formula One to carry that and the motor clubs to carry it. I think that's quite serious."
Mosley is fighting back over the incident, however, and is seeking "unlimited damages" against the News of the World, which published the allegations.
