Brian Noble has signed a new 18-month contract with Wigan with the option of a further year to end speculation over his future.
The former Great Britain coach, who joined Wigan from Bradford in April 2006, was due to fall out of contract at the end of the current Super League season and was linked with moves to Australia and France, where he was tipped to replace Mick Potter as coach of Catalans Dragons.
However, Wigan chairman Ian Lenagan has confirmed that Noble, who saved the Warriors from relegation in his first season, before going close to guiding them to last season's Grand Final and Challenge Cup final, will be staying at the JJB Stadium.
"Brian and I shook hands on a deal two weeks ago following five months of working together and planning for Wigan's future squad," said Lenagan.
"We completed the formalities over the weekend and felt we should announce quickly against a background of yet more media speculation."
He added: "Brian is an excellent professional and one of the most successful coaches in Super League history.
"The work he has done over the past two years has strengthened immensely the Wigan club's organisation and standards.
"Joe Lydon and I look forward to working with Brian throughout this season and the next two to capitalise on that base, to build a future succession and to bring the same success to Wigan that Brian has achieved elsewhere."
Noble said: "I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at Wigan and particularly the last few months of planning for the future, but my job is only part done. I am delighted to have signed this new deal and look forward to delivering that future to the marvellous Wigan fans."
