Tord Grip has slammed Thaksin Shinawatra's treatment of Sven-Goran Eriksson as Jose Mourinho is being lined up as his successor.
City's current assistant boss Grip insists Eriksson is feeling 'furious and betrayed' by former Thai PM Shinawatra's decision to show him the door after just one season in which he has guided the club to a top-10 finish.
It appears the poor run of results in the second half of the campaign, culminating in Saturday's 3-2 home defeat against struggling Fulham after they led 2-0 was the final straw.
Grip hit out at Shinawatra and accused him of lacking patience with the current regime after just nine months in charge at Eastlands.
He told the Mirror: "They probably think the job we've done isn't good enough. They think we've done a bad job.
"But we believe we've done a good one. I don't think the owner has shown enough patience.
"This has all happened so fast. That's what this is all about - patience.
"The form has not been as good after Christmas as it was before, but that's how it is in football. It's full of ups and downs.
"The Premier League is like running a marathon. It takes time to build a team."
Eriksson, who is due to secure a £1.5million pay-off, is now reportedly being lined up by Portuguese giants Benfica, while former Chelsea boss Mourinho is the latest name in the frame to replace the Swede at City this summer.
Brazil's World Cup-winning coach Luis Felipe Scolari, now in charge of Portugal, Barcelona's Frank Rijkaard and Croatia coach Slaven Bilic are the other top names thought to be on the wanted list.
