Arsene Wenger is stepping up his interest in FC Metz striker Miralem Pjanic although he faces a battle with Barcelona for his services.
The Gunners boss has had his spies watch Pjanic in action regularly this season and is set to make a move when the transfer window opens at the end of the season.
As well as Barcelona the 18-year-old Bosnian is also a target for French champions-elect Lyon, but they are unlikely to be able to compete when it comes to the money that the other two clubs could offer.
Metz value Pjanic at around £8million but know the price could get pushed higher if they can start a bidding war, much could depend on who else is on Wenger's radar over the summer.
