Birmingham have been boosted by the news midfielder Olivier Kapo looks certain to stay at St Andrews even if they are relegated.
The French international has been an influential member of the Blues squad since former boss Steve Bruce signed him from Juventus last summer. And his recent two-month absence due to a hamstring problem has been one of the reasons why Alex McLeish's side have struggled for results and find themselves in the third relegation place with just two matches remaining.
However Kapo returned in Saturday's 2-2 draw against Liverpool and is hoping to keep the Blues in the Premier League. But if they do drop down into the Championship, he seems keen on staying to help the club bounce back at the first attempt.
Kapo told the club's magazine: "I like the project that the gaffer had in mind.
"I signed for three years for Birmingham and I want to stay here. I think next year we could have a very good team.
"I like it here. My family like Birmingham. For me, in my head, I am staying here. After three years, if Birmingham want me for one or two more years, then yes, why not?"
