Benni McCarthy is making good progress from a slight hamstring injury and should be fit for Saturday's clash against Derby.

The 30-year-old has been among the substitutes of late but was ruled out of last weekend's 1-0 win at Portsmouth after picking up a knock during a training session.

McCarthy, who has scored 11 goals for Rovers this season, should be fit for the penultimate game of the season against the Premier League's bottom club.

Hughes admitted: "He tweaked his hamstring but we are hoping it's just a little bit of tightness in there and he hasn't actually pulled anything.

"We will check on him this week but we are hopeful that he will play a part in the matches that we have left.

"I need everybody fit and well going into these last two games because I want as many options available to me as possible."
