Bolton say they are 'disappointed at the timing' of the comments made by ex-boss Sam Allardyce, who criticised the club this week.
The former Wanderers boss, who left the Reebok towards the end of last season after eight years with Bolton, took a swipe at the board by claiming they had 'pulled apart' the club.
But with just two games to go in Bolton's survival battle, Bolton officials have questioned the timing of Allardyce's remarks and admitted their disappointment in the comments made.
A club spokesman said: "Everyone is entitled to their opinions about footballers and football clubs - fans, pundits, those in the game and those currently outside the game.
"Mr Allardyce was a great servant of Bolton Wanderers Football Club, and naturally we are disappointed at the timing and the nature of his comments at such an important stage of the season, especially when he has experience of a similar situation during his time here."
