Seven-time world champion Stephen Hendry eased into the last four after completing a 13-7 win over Ryan Day.
The Scot had been in commanding form on Tuesday, firstly opening up an 8-1 lead before withstanding a brief fightback to complete the day's play 11-5 in front.
The 39-year-old carried on from where he left off this afternoon by taking the opening frame to put himself within one of victory, only for Day to hit back by taking a tight 18th frame and racking up a break of 71 to cut the deficit further.
However, that was just delaying the inevitable and Hendry opened up a 77-0 before Day conceded the match when he went in-off.
The former world number one has now made it through to the semi-finals at The Crucible for the first time since 2004, but admits he can still get better.
"I am very happy," he told BBC Sport. "Obviously coming to The Crucible I was short of form, but I knew if could get past the first round I could win here.
"It will have to improve if I am to win it. I am not scoring as heavy as I would like but my all-round game is pretty solid."
Hendry could now face Ronnie O'Sullivan in the last four, if the 'Rocket' defeats China's Liang Wenbo, and believes that his Crucible experiences can only help him.
Hendry said: "If I do play him then I'll be taking on the best player in the world.
"He can do anything and he is a phenomenon. But I know how to win here and you don't know what can happen now."
