Chief executive Peter Storrie has confirmed that long-serving defender Linvoy Primus is set to be offered a new contract at Portsmouth.
It has been a campaign to forget for the 34-year-old, who joined Pompey on a free transfer from Reading in 2000, as he has failed to make a single appearance due to a knee problem which required a career-saving operation performed by world-renowned surgeon Dr Richard Steadman.
Primus is due to fall out of contract in the summer and would be available to leave Fratton Park on a Bosman free transfer. However when asked about issuing new deals to players in the summer, Storrie confirmed they are set to offer him the chance to stay put.
He told The News: "We will be looking at the players who are out of contract at some point over the next few weeks.
"We will certainly look after Linvoy - he has been a great servant to the club and we will be sitting down with him as and when the time is right.
"Linvoy is certainly one who deserves to remain with the club.
"We haven't met with anybody regarding new contracts yet, but my personal opinion is he is one player we will definitely support as a club."
Storrie revealed that no contracts would be sorted out until after Pompey's FA Cup final appearance against Cardiff at Wembley on May 17.
He added: "We'll be looking at all of these issues when we get the time. It's been pretty busy with things like FA Cup finals to prepare for!"
