Sunderland have been boosted by the news defender Jonny Evans should be fit to face Bolton this weekend.

Evans has been forced to miss the last two games with a hamstring injury but boss Roy Keane has confirmed the young defender should be fit to face the Trotters.

It was feared that Evans, who is on loan from Manchester United, may have played his last game for the Black Cats before returning to Old Trafford, but Keane has played down those fears.

Keane told the club's official website: "Jonny should be fit, which is good news."

The Irishman is hoping to wrap up a permanent deal for Evans in the summer but it remains to be seen whether Sir Alex Ferguson is willing to cash in on the player.
