Burnley have been boosted by the news striker Andrew Cole would be tempted to turn his loan stay from Sunderland a permanent one.

The 36-year-old veteran hitman has impressed greatly while on loan at Turf Moor, despite suffering a myriad of niggling injuries, with five goals in 12 appearances. And the former England, Manchester United, Newcastle, Manchester City, Fulham, Portsmouth and Blackburn forward has revealed that he could well remain with Owen Coyle's side beyond the end of the current campaign.

"The reception the supporters gave me this week, both at the fans' awards night and the official player of the year night, was tremendous," he said.

"It has given me food for thought in terms of continuing my career here and hopefully I will sit down with the gaffer when the season is over and we will see what happens."
