Manchester City captain Richard Dunne is set to shake off a hamstring problem for the clash with Liverpool on Sunday.
The Blues will be relieved to get back on the pitch after a week of intense speculation over the future of boss Sven-Goran Eriksson and the return of their skipper will be a massive boost.
City have been forced to field a patched-up defence over the last couple of weeks, however the trip to Anfield comes too soon for Dunne's regular partner Micah Richards who is still recovering from knee surgery.
Eriksson said: "He's getting better all the time but if there's a small risk for him to get injured again, we shouldn't risk that."
Dunne could be set to play his penultimate game for City with talk of a summer move to Newcastle refusing to go away.
