Manchester United defender Nemanja Vidic is out of the clash with West Ham but Wayne Rooney is set to return to the bench.

Vidic missed the Champions League win over Barcelona in midweek because of the effects of a collision with Chelsea striker Didier Drogba which left him with a tooth missing and cuts to his mouth.

The Serb will again miss out but Rooney is set to defy a hip problem and should at least be named among the substitutes.

Patrice Evra has also been passed fit to take on the Hammers after being stretchered off in midweek.

"Wayne may be on the bench," said Red Devils boss Sir Alex Ferguson. "But we've got a major final to think about and we're not going to rush him."
