Steve Bruce claims Wigan's 2-0 win at Aston Villa which guaranteed Premier League survival is one of the highlights of his career.
Latics boss has masterminded the club's recovery after arriving from fellow strugglers Birmingham earlier in the campaign with the club in a dire situation in the bottom three. And safety was assured when a brace from Luis Antonio Valencia sealed an impressive win over a Villa side still aiming to finish in fifth place.
Bruce admitted he is disappointed that his former club Birmingham are in serious danger of being relegated after he got them promoted a year ago. However he is elated at the job he has done at the JJB Stadium.
He said: "I'm mighty proud of what I achieved at Birmingham but it's never easy to come into a club (mid-season) and have an impact immediately.
"I haven't achieved much to be fair but this is definitely up there.
"But it (Birmingham's situation) doesn't give me any satisfaction at all. You must believe me on that."
On the win, he added: "I was pleased by the manner of it.
"Especially as everyone was patting us on the back and saying we'd done it. Of course, in hindsight, they might have been right but we still had to come here and get a result.
"To do it in that manner against a really good Villa team showed you why we have stayed up; we are a good team. Since December they have been magnificent."
