Usain Bolt clocked the second-fastest ever time in the 100m at the Jamaican Invitational meeting in Kingston.

Bolt has already posted the fastest time in the world this year with a time of 10.03 seconds, but he smashed that with a run of 9.76 seconds - a run only bettered by fellow Jamaican Asafa Powell.

Powell posted his time of 9.74 seconds in Rieti, Italy, last September but he missed facing Bolt as he is suffering from a chest injury.

Bolt, who won silver at last summer's world championships, kept his composure after two false starts to post his personal best - with the assistance of a legal 1.8metres-per-second following wind.

When asked if he thought he might break Powell's record, said: "You never know what could happen".

It is now more than likely that he will double up in the sprint events, given his early season form, at the Olympics in Beijing this summer.
