Dwain Chambers' future at Castleford will be decided on Tuesday with an announcement set to be made about the disgraced sprinter.
The 30-year-old has spent a month on trial at the Super League club with a view to beginning a new career in the 13-man code after being frozen out of the UK athletics scene.
The Londoner was banned for two years from athletics for a positive drugs test and spent time trying to carve out a career in American football.
However, he failed to make the grade and was back on the athletics track earlier this season in indoor meetings.
But with the powerful sprinter set to be excluded from the majority of European meetings this summer, Chambers is looking for another avenue to continue with a career in sport and he is hoping to emulate the great Martin Offiah and become a legend on the wing in the tough sport.
If Cas do release Chambers, then it is rumoured that other Super League clubs may be interested in acquiring his services but, with just one practice match under his belt, the 1999 World 100m bronze medallist would represent a risky investment for any potential employer.
