Peter Lawrie admitted he was "speechless" after securing his maiden European Tour victory at the Spanish Open.
The Irishman needed a play-off to taste victory at the 175th attempt on tour, beating Spain's Ignacio Garrido at the second extra hole to claim the trophy.
It was an amazing final round for the 34-year-old, who was four shots behind the leader with seven to play, but carded four birdies to set the clubhouse target.
He then had to watch as Garrido sunk a closing 30-foot putt to tie and force the sudden-death play-off, when it looked as though he had taken the tournament after 72 holes.
The play-off appeared to be going the Spaniard's way and Lawrie needed to sink a 25-footer to take it to a second hole.
But his luck then changed as Garrido put his approach in the water and the Dubliner escaped from a bunker to take the title - the third consecutive Irish success after Darren Clarke took the Asian Open and Damien McGrane's China Open victory.
"I'm lost for words, to be honest with you," he said. "I'm not a party person, but I'll enjoy this. Damien won so easily - he didn't have to go through this pain and torture."
"That (the Irish victories) spurs you on," he added. "You play practice rounds with them and you think 'why can't I do that?', but it gives you self-belief."
