Arsenal are known to be keeping tabs on Le Mans midfielder Stephane Sessegnon with a view to a possible swoop this summer.

Gunners boss Arsene Wenger has had his French scout Giles Grimandi check out Sessegnon several times in recent weeks which has fuelled rumours a swoop could be on.

Sessegnon has been in impressive form playing a total of 35 games this season and could be seen as a replacement for AC Milan bound Mathieu Flamini.

The 23 year-old is a tough tackler who has been booked eight times and sent off once so far this season.

The Benin international also caught the eye in the African Nations Cup and Newcastle United boss Kevin Keegan is also said to be keen on the 23-year-old.

Sessegnon has spent the last two seasons at Le Mans after they plucked him from the obscurity of Ligue 2.
