Avram Grant is delighted that he managed to transform Chelsea's fortunes this season after taking over from Jose Mourinho in September.
The Israeli claims the Blues were stuck on a downward spiral after a string of disappointing results as Mourinho had publicly fallen out with owner Roman Abramovich. And, despite being a surprise choice as manager, the former director of football stepped up and has guided Chelsea to a possible Premier League and Champions League double.
"I just need to do my job and be professional as I came here on a mission," Grant told the BBC. "The club was a good club but on the way down. Now we are on the right way.
"It is very exciting when you are creating something, especially at Chelsea. Here you need to create and win.
"When we lost in the [Carling] Cup [against Spurs] it was like a funeral. It is a big challenge for me and one that makes me happy.
"We have fantastic players and fantastic staff. We are also playing good football, exciting football."
Manchester United stand between the Blues and the Champions League trophy in Moscow on May 21, while the Londoners will snatch the domestic crown if they beat Bolton on Sunday and Sir Alex Ferguson's side draw or lose at Wigan.
Grant added: "We will never give up. No-one thought of us as a candidate in the title race. Now only goal difference separates us from United. I know it will be difficult for them at Wigan."
