Wigan are reportedly looking at Paraguayan duo Nelson Amarilla and Juan Aguilar, while Birmingham's Sebastian Larsson has been linked.
Latics boss Steve Bruce has already been linked with a myriad of players since the club guaranteed their Premier League status courtesy of a 2-0 win at Aston Villa on Saturday and reports have thrown up several more names.
Following claims Honduran midfielder Hendry Thomas and Egyptian striker Amr Zaki could be joining the club, Bruce is now thought to be checking on Guarani pair, defender Amarilla and midfielder Aguilar.
Skysports suggests the highly-rated duo will jet over to Wigan for six weeks during the summer and Bruce will then assess if they are worthy of a permanent deal at the JJB Stadium.
Meanwhile Bruce is also thought to be pondering a raid on his former club Birmingham for the services of midfielder Larsson should the Blues be relegated on Sunday.
Bruce took Larsson to St Andrews from Arsenal two years ago - initially on loan before making the deal permanent - and reports suggest he could try and be reunited with him in Lancashire.
