Midfielder Pavel Nedved has promised Juventus he will make a decision on whether he will continue playing by the end of the week.
The Czech Republic veteran has been considering his future over the course of this Serie A campaign as he feels his mind and body might not be up to the demands of the game anymore. As a result, he does not want to continue playing and risk becoming a shadow of himself over the next 12 months.
He said: "I will decide my future in a few hours' time. I'm evaluating - there are many variables - but you will soon find out.
"A moment arrives in which it is fair to quit and my reasons are both physical and mental. In the sense that if my physique holds up, it doesn't mean that my head holds up, and in my case my head gives me 80% of what I am.
"It's very nice to play in Italy, but it's also very tough."
Nedved admitted the prospect of one last crack at playing in the Champions League is what could persuade him to carry on playing.
He added: "It's one of the few decisive arguments and since I know that there is little time, I'm trying to evaluate quickly."
