Club Bruges' Belgian international striker Francois Sterchele has reportedly been killed in a car accident on Thursday morning.

The 26-year-old, who won his first cap with Belgium in March 2007, was Club Bruges' leading goal scorer this season with 11 goals to his name.

Sterchele made the move to his current club from Germinal Beerschot with whom he topped the goalscoring charts in the Belgian top flight in the 2006/07 campaign.
