Wigan owner Dave Whelan insists every Premier League club must be given the same amount of money or it will remain a four-horse race.

Whelan wants TV revenue and prize cash to be shared equally in order to try and keep "excitement" levels as high as possible.

He said: "We know next year one of the top four is going to win the title. Is that sport? No, you need some excitement in sport and expectations.

"I am constantly fighting with the Premier League to get the money distributed more evenly and we all get the same share.

"If the clubs in the top four get extra money for going into the Champions League good luck to them, they deserve it. But the money in the Premier League should be split equally between the 20 teams."
