Wigan star Kevin Kilbane will miss the clash with title-chasing Manchester United on Sunday because of a back injury.

The stand-in left-back has been playing through the pain barrier over recent weeks but will not feature in the final game of the Premier League season as boss Steve Bruce gives him a rest.

Latics are also without skipper Mario Melchiot who suffered a groin injury a few weeks ago.

Bruce's side are safe from relegation but can have a major say in the destination of the title if they produce a shock result against the Red Devils.

Wigan: Kirkland, Taylor, Scharner, Boyce, Valencia, Brown, Palacios, Koumas, Bent, Heskey, King, Sibierski, Skoko, Pollitt, Bramble, Figueroa, Hagen, Aghahowa, Olembe.
