Arsene Wenger wants to keep Gilberto Silva at Arsenal but has told the player the decision whether he stays or not is down to him.
Gilberto has played second fiddle to Mathieu Flamini this season and looked certain at one stage to leave the Emirates. However with Flamini set to sign for AC Milan there could be room for the Brazilian in the Gunners engine room and Wenger would like him to stay.
Wenger also believes Denilson, Abou Diaby and Alex Song could slot into the position but that does not mean he wants to lose Gilberto.
"I personally would like him to stay but he has to make a decision on that - I want him to feel comfortable," said Wenger. "I like Gilberto and since he has been playing again he has shown how good he is as a player, but we will see."
