Mark Hughes says he is hopeful of adding some quality players to his Blackburn squad this summer and the search has already started.

Rovers finished seventh in the Premiership this season but Hughes is already looking towards the next campaign and has started his recruitment drive ahead of schedule.

Hughes went over to Spain at the weekend to watch Espanyol take on Atletico Madrid and the boss fully intends to spend whatever cash he gets on quality players.

"The process starts almost as soon as the window shuts, you get over one window and you plan for the next one, that is how it is," Hughes told the club's website.

""You've got to take opportunities to look at players if you can and that is what I've been able to do this week.

"I'm hopeful of getting some good quality into the squad, I hope to spend the money that I get well. We've been able to do that in recent times and if we continue in that vein then we'll add quality to the quality in the squad that we already have."
