Midfield ace hints at Royals stay

Midfielder Stephen Hunt says he will only leave relegated Reading if the club want to sell him as he won't be demanding a move away.

The Republic of Ireland international only signed a new contract extension with the Royals in February which will see him tied to the Madejski Stadium until 2011. And, while Hunt admits there is a clause in the deal which could see him depart in the case of relegation, he says he would be more than happy to stay loyal to the club and help them make an instant return to the Premier League.

Hunt, who is in Dublin ahead of Ireland's training camp in Portugal and subsequent games against Serbia and Colombia, has already been linked with a move to Sunderland, but said: "There is a clause. But there is nothing you can do about it.

"I'm happy at Reading and I'm grateful to them for what they have done for me. I'm not going to sit here and do a Jermaine Defoe on it and say I want to leave.

"They have been very good to me and, until I'm told otherwise, I'll still do my best for them."

He added: "To be honest, I've talked to my agent once and that's it."
