Blackburn Rovers boss Gary Bowyer has confirmed he is still hopeful of bringing Aston Villa midfielder Barry Bannan to the club.
Rovers have agreed a fee with Villa, believed to be £750,000, for the Scotland international midfielder but are still to sort out personal terms.
Bowyer is desperate to get the deal done in order to have Bannan available for Rovers' opening Championship fixture against Derby County next weekend.
He told the Lancashire Evening Telegraph: "It's still ongoing. These things take a little bit longer than managers want.
"I saw Harry Redknapp quoted the other day and he wasn't happy when he lost out on Gary Hooper.
"We've just got to keep working hard at it and try to get things over the line.
"If it doesn't happen then we've got other targets that we can certainly aim for."
