Celtic have been put on red alert over out-of-favour Aston Villa keeper Shay Given who still wants to play for them one day.
Given joined Celtic as a teenager but he left for Blackburn Rovers in the summer of 1994 and never played for the first team at Parkhead.
The 36-year-old former Republic of Ireland international has been regularly linked with a move to the Glasgow giants - who he has supported since a boy - throughout his career which has taken him to Newcastle, Manchester City and Villa.
Given, who is only 16 months into a five-year contract at Villa Park but finds himself behind Brad Guzan in the pecking order, would like to turn out for the Hoops before he calls it a day.
"I never say never in football and it's no secret that I would love to play for Celtic," said Given.
"I don't know if that will be possible financially in the future and I am a Villa player.
"But the fact that I never played even a minute for the first team at Parkhead when I was there as a kid has always been a disappointment. Maybe that could change some day, who knows?"
