Dickov eyes Villa ace loan stay

Doncaster boss Paul Dickov is hopeful of keeping Aston Villa's Jordan Bowery on an extended loan and has vowed to help him improve.

The Villa forward moved to the Keepmoat on loan last month and has started three games for Rovers, although he was an unused sub in Saturday's 2-0 defeat at Huddersfield Town.

Bowery joined Villa from Chesterfield in August 2012 but has found his opportunities limited under Paul Lambert who has often preferred the likes of Christian Benteke and Gabby Agbonlahor in his frontline.

Dickov believes the player will benefit from playing more regularly in the Championship and feels the best decision for all concerned would be for him to prolong his stay.

"He has done well over the last month," the boss told the Daily Star. "The more games he gets, and the more time he spends with us, the better."
