Heerenveen striker Bas Dost has confirmed Aston Villa's interest in him after speculation linking him with a summer move to England.
Dost seems certain to be on his way out of his current club in the summer after alerting a number of bigger teams into Alex McLeish's Villa with his form in the Eredivisie where he currently tops the scoring list.
The Dutch under-21 international is excited by the rumours although he is adamant that his main focus right now is on doing well for Heerenveen.
Spanish giants Valencia are also keeping tabs on the 6ft 5inch forward, who has bagged 22 goals already this season and it's thought a fee of £4m could secure his signature.
"It is positive news," Dost told Voetbal Primeur.
"You hear this and of course it is nice to know they are interested.
"Aston Villa is a club I don't know very well, but they look good.
"I have spoken with my agent and we won't be discussing anything during the season."
Villa have already raided Dutch football for one new recruit for next season, having agreed a Bosman deal for AZ Alkmaar's Australian international Brett Holman.
