Aston Villa keeper Brad Guzan admits his side must treat every game as a "cup final" in the battle against relegation.

Guzan impressed in Villa's 3-2 win over QPR on Saturday, making a number of crucial saves as his side held on to take all three points.

The USA international is pleased with the plaudits he has received but insists the whole team deserves praise for their performances of late.

"As a goalkeeper, you are called upon to make saves," he told reporters. "Fortunately, I was able to keep a few out of the back of the net and give the guys in front of me a chance to level the score and go on and win the game."

Villa are three points clear of the drop zone thanks to their victory over QPR but Guzan is well aware of how quickly things can change and has called on his side to treat every game as a cup final as they continue their battle against relegation.

"Every game is a cup final," he added. "We know that and this [QPR] was no different. It was very important we got three points, especially being the home team.

"The fact we were able to go and do that, especially being down a goal, gives us a bit of a lift. And it takes a little out of them."
