Brad Guzan has been tipped by former Aston Villa team-mate Brad Friedel to become one of the best goalkeepers in the Premier League.
The 28-year-old American's time at Villa Park looked to be over 12 months ago when he was released at the end of his contract having struggled for first-team football with Friedel and then Shay Given ahead of him in the pecking order over the years.
However, Paul Lambert arrived as Alex McLeish's successor and immediately handed Guzan another deal and, following Given's poor start to the season, he was promoted to the number one spot and has remained there.
And fellow American Friedel, who is currently plying his trade for Premier League rivals Tottenham, feels Guzan has the ability to be a star man in English football.
Friedel told the club's official website: "He could be Villa's No.1 for over 10 years, absolutely. It's entirely up to him by way of his performances.
"When you're a goalkeeper that's all you can ask. You can only ask to be in the team if your level of performance is consistently high.
"He can be one of the top goalkeepers in the Premier League too. He has all the attributes to be."
