Paul Lambert says too much has been made about Aston Villa assistant manager Roy Keane's so-called "aggressive" nature.

The former Manchester United midfielder was brought in by Villa boss Lambert earlier this summer to work as his right-hand man and the Scot says he has already made a big impact.

Much of the media focus has been on Keane's supposed fearsome reputation in the dressing room, but Lambert has dismissed those claims.

"I can really trust him. He is a really good football person, a top football man. He has been great," he told The Mirror.

"People shouldn't get caught up with Roy Keane being this aggressive person.

"With the career he has had as a footballer - and people forget he had a lot of success as a football manager - what he says is really positive, especially to young players.

"If they don't take a leaf out of his book then there is something wrong."
