Paul Lambert claims Aston Villa owner Randy Lerner has been 'great to me' and his support never wavered even in times of trouble.
The Villa boss endured a difficult first season in charge at Villa Park after he left Norwich City to replace Alex McLeish in summer 2012.
And following an 8-0 drubbing at Wednesday night's Premier League opponents Chelsea last December, which was followed by a 4-0 home defeat to Tottenham and a 3-0 Villa Park loss against fellow strugglers Wigan, it seemed that the Scot could be facing the axe.
However the fans and American owner, Lerner, stuck with Lambert and were rewarded when he turned the club's fortunes around from February onwards to fairly comfortably secure their Premier League safety.
Lambert has always been quick to praise the fans and he has now spoken out publicly to thank Lerner for his continued backing.
"I speak to Randy every week anyway and he's always really supportive of it," he said.
"I spoke to him the other night after the Arsenal win. He probably says one thing to me and then goes and vomits somewhere else.
"He's been great to me, he really has and that's what you need at that time, that support."
