Lambert offers trio future hope

Paul Lambert has indicated Darren Bent, Charles N'Zogbia and Alan Hutton will remain at Aston Villa after praising the trio.

It had been reported that the Scot would look to offload three of Villa's high earners in order to make room for some fresh faces at the club.

However, all three players featured in Thursday's friendly win over Mansfield and impressed in the 45 minutes they were given against the League Two side.

Bent, who has been linked with a move to Turkey, scored twice while West Brom target Hutton impressed as the Villans ran out 3-1 winners.

After the game Lambert heaped praise on the trio and indicated they are very much part of his plans for next season.

"I've always known they have been good players," said Lambert. "Everybody knows the situation that was going on with the football club.

"But these lads have been brilliant. Darren has worked ever so hard and Alan is the same.

"Charles has come back from a year out, too, so there are some major positives from the game."
