Lambert pleased with new trio

Paul Lambert says Aston Villa's new signings Philippe Senderos, Joe Cole and Keiran Richardson have made a big impact already.

Villa are currently in pre-season training in Texas in the US and play Dallas FC in their first game on tour on Wednesday.

Lambert says he is pleased with how their preparation for the new campaign is going and has been impressed with what he's seen from free transfer arrivals Cole and Senderos and former Fulham utility man Richardson.

He told the club's website: "The lads have worked hard. It's really warm, it's certainly one of the hottest I have encountered here in the States.

"The session we did on Monday was very pleasing, they have another Tuesday and then the game on Wednesday.

"The new boys have been great, we are getting there. Those three lads have definitely added to that, and we still have Brad (Guzan) to join us in Houston too."

Following the match against Dallas, Villa will take on another MLS side, Houston Dynamo, on Saturday.
