Aston Villa boss Paul Lambert has warned his stars to prepare for an "extremely tough" pre-season trip to Germany.
Villa arrived in Dortmund on Sunday night for a week-long stay where they will play three games against German sides.
In the two previous pre-season campaigns there has also been a commercial side to Villa's trips, in Hong Kong and the US, but that isn't the case this year and Lambert has told his players to prepare for a demanding trip.
"Germany will be extremely tough," Lambert told the club's official website. "Especially if the weather gets the way it could go and there will be three difficult games out there.
"The priority for us is to work. It is not a resort where you think the lads go to enjoy themselves.
"It is to work really and if they do that and work really hard and keep it going then they'll come back to England and they've got games here which will stand them in good stead."
Villa will face SV Rodinghausen on Wednesday, SC Paderborn on Friday and VfL Bochum on Sunday during their stay in Germany.
