No Bent deal for Cottagers

Martin Jol has said there is no truth in speculation linking Fulham with a swoop for Aston Villa's out of favour striker Darren Bent.

The Cottagers boss has been linked with a possible January bid for the England international hitman who looks set to leave Villa Park having struggled for first-team action under Paul Lambert so far this season.

However, despite Jol having signed Bent for Tottenham during his time in charge at White Hart Lane, the Dutch tactician is adamant that he has no need to bolster his forward line because of the options he already has at his disposal.

"I signed him at Tottenham because if you saw him at Charlton he scored almost one every two games, so I thought he's a quality finisher," Jol said in the Fulham & Hammersmith Chronicle.

"You never know, but we've got three good strikers.

"We've got Hugo Rodallega, Mladen Petric and Dimitar Berbatov. In the hole, we've got (Bryan) Ruiz. Of course we could do with maybe another creative player in that position, then I could leave Berbatov up front all the time."
