O'Neill out to end Chelsea home record

A VillaAston Villa manager Martin O'Neill says he is confident his side can end Chelsea's 85-match unbeaten home record this Sunday.

Villa are unbeaten in their last five meetings with the Blues, having taken four points off the west London club last season which included a dramatic 4-4 draw in the game at Stamford Bridge.

O'Neill's men have made a bright start to this season, lying third in the Premier League table just a point behind Chelsea, and the manager sees no reason why they cannot pull off a shock result.

"I'm sure if we go to Stamford Bridge and get turned over, people will say it's not much to write home about there, but it's not our own view," O'Neill told Sky Sports.

"We're going into the game with loads of confidence. I feel we can win. That's a strong statement, but I have a lot of confidence in the side.

"They are playing with a lot of self-belief, which is so, so important. We have got a chance and I think we've got a chance in every game we play."

Villa are being tipped to be the first team since Everton in 2005 to break into the top four and a win against an injury-hit Chelsea side will go a long way to stamping their credentials as a potential Champions League side.
