Reds agree Barry fee

Liverpool are reported to have finally agreed a £17.5million fee with Aston Villa for midfielder Gareth Barry.

Now that the Reds have wrapped up a deal for Tottenham striker Robbie Keane they have now turned their attentions back to Barry and could be closing in on their second major swoop.

Reports last weekend suggested that Liverpool had dropped their interest and there was even talk this week that he could be offered a new deal to stay at Villa.

However, one of the biggest transfer sagas of the summer looks set to be reignited with the reports that Liverpool have finally matched Villa's valuation.

The reports also claim Liverpool have to sell before a deal can be pushed through but with plenty of interest in Jermaine Pennant, Yossi Benayoun, Andriy Voronin, Alvaro Arbeloa and Xabi Alonso that should not be a problem.
