Tottenham goalkeeper Paul Robinson has expressed his desire to join Aston Villa if he is forced to leave Spurs this summer. Sources close to Robinson say he has earmarked Villa as the best possible destination to get his international career back on track.
"Paul would welcome the opportunity to move to a club like Aston Villa.
"He believes Martin O'Neill can help to bring the best out of him. He realises his chances of playing regularly at Tottenham look unlikely.
"He feels such a move would help to resurrect his career."
O'Neill is also believed to be checking on the progress of Celtic goalkeeper Arthur Boruc and Wolves' Wayne Hennessey, but Robinson is said to be the preferred choice if they can agree a fee around the £5million mark.
