Spurs to reignite Benteke interest

Last Updated: Wed, 23 Oct 2013 11:12

Spurs will reportedly make another move to sign Aston Villa star Christian Benteke in January, with a £28million bid mooted.

Villa stood firm in the summer when the north London club tried to prise the Belgian away from Villa Park but reports suggest Spurs are planning another move in January.

Benteke did hand in a transfer request in the summer but then withdrew it and agreed terms on an improved four-year deal at Villa.

Boss Paul Lambert is keen to keep hold of Benteke until at least the end of the season and Villa are unlikely to be convinced by the £28million figure that has been suggested.

It has been claimed Villa will consider bids in the region of £35million in January, although given their stance in the summer that still may not be enough to convince the club to cash in on the 22-year-old.
