Villa are in Young's heart

A VillaAston Villa have been boosted by the news Ashley Young is the latest player to express a desire to sign a new contract at Villa Park.

Sunday's hat-trick hero Gabriel Agbonlahor penned a new four-year deal late last week before his demolition job on Manchester City in the 4-2 weekend win, while his strike partner John Carew also signed an extension to his contract to ensure he stays put until summer 2011.

Young, who joined Villa from Watford for £8million in the January 2007 transfer window, still has nearly three seasons to run on his four-and-a-half-year deal but wants to extend that further.

He said: "What about my own contract situation? I am just happy playing my football. But, if anything like that comes about, I'll be delighted.

"I've got this season and two more years left. I'm happy, really happy with how things are going, happy here at Aston Villa.

"I am just looking to build on the performances of last season during this season and I'm glad we got off to a good start at the weekend against Manchester City.

"Would I like to commit to a new contract? Of course. It is a fantastic club. I am delighted I'm playing here."
