Aston Villa hope to welcome back John Carew against Tottenham but Stiliyan Petrov is struggling to make the clash.

Carew has returned to training this week after missing the last four games with a knee injury and boss Martin O'Neill is confident of having the big Norwegian available again although he is likely to start him on the bench.

Elsewhere, Petrov is still struggling with a knock and is expected to be rested for the trip to White Hart Lane so fellow midfielder Steve Sidwell will come into the side.

O'Neill has no other fresh injury problems with Nigel Reo Coker out for the next three months with an ankle injury.
