Aston Villa face competition from Fulham and Everton for the signing of Bordeaux midfielder Yoann Gouffran.
The Premier League trio have been placed on red alert as contract talks between the Frenchman and his club look set to break down.
Gouffran, who scored the winner for Bordeaux against Toulouse at the weekend, is out of contract at the Stade Chaban-Delmas at the end of the season.
French sources claim contract negotiations between the two parties are "very difficult", with the 26-year-old seemingly poised to reject a new deal in order to leave on a free.
Gouffran is understood to be eager to move to England and his agent is thought to be considering several options ahead of the January transfer window.
Bordeaux could look to cash in on former France Under-21 international, with a fee of £3m believed to be enough to lure him away from the Ligue 1 club.
