Aston Villa could launch a new raid on Genk for striker Jelle Vossen if Christian Benteke is lured away from Villa Park next summer.
Villa boss Paul Lambert snapped up 22-year-old Belgium international striker Benteke for £7million from Genk in summer 2012 and he impressed greatly with 19 Premier League goals last term.
Benteke looked set to leave Villa Park in the summer after he handed in a transfer request and Tottenham were interested in taking him off Villa's hands in a deal thought to be worth over £20million.
However, Lambert persuaded the player to stay put and he subsequently agreed to sign a new four-year extension at the club.
Benteke has already scored four goals in the eight Premier League games he has been involved in this season which has resulted in more speculation that he could depart Villa at the end of the campaign.
If he does leave then it is being reported that Lambert will return to Genk and attempt to sign 24-year-old Belgian, Vossen, who has scored eight goals in 14 league appearances and a further three in five Europa League games so far this season.
