Villa ready to spend on star trio

NewsAston Villa manager Martin O'Neill is keen to sign three more players before the deadline as Villa look to break into the top four.

The ambitious Villa Park boss has already drafted in Carlos Cuellar, Curtis Davies, Steve Sidwell, Luke Young, Nicky Shorey, Brad Friedel and Brad Guzan as Villa push for the Champions League.

Those Villa fans who now have the belief that O'Neill's new look squad can break into the top four, may look to use their £25 free bet as the Irishman targets even more quality.

"We have got just less than two weeks, but I am hopeful we can sign some players. We are still actively trying to get some people in," O'Neill said in the Daily Express.

"I have the support from the chairman (Randy Lerner), who has shown his intentions and done exactly what he said he would in supporting the team.

"We might get another three players in and we might be stricken with the same situation as West Ham this time last year.

"We might not be able to cope, but you have a better chance if you have the people in."
