Aston Villa are lining up a swoop for Tottenham goalkeeper Paul Robinson but face competition from Middlesbrough.Villa, who are also keen on Spurs defender Pascal Chimbonda, have now emerged as potential suitors for Robinson and could swoop as they look for a new keeper.
A deal to sign Liverpool's Scott Carson on a permanent basis remains in the balance and Villa boss Martin O'Neill could now be ready to turn to Robinson instead.
Middlesbrough are also very keen as they look to replace Mark Schwarzer and a battle for Robinson's services could be on the cards this summer.
